CHINMAYA PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST

The trust was established in the year 2008 with the aim to be able to help the hearing impaired child undergo a Cochlear Implant Surgery. The cost of the device was around 5.5 lac rupees which is a huge amount for an average family in our country. With a vision to provide a world of sound to these children with generous donations from family and friends the trust was started.  

The founder trustee Dr.Vinod Shah was always inclined to give it back to the society and had started the school for hearing impaired in the year 1976. His Son Dr. Saumitra Shah – a trained Cochlear implant surgeon wishes to fulfill his father’s dream and provide cochlear implant to one and all and have  a deafness free Gujarat.

The trust also runs a Auditory verbal therapy  centre (speech therapy)  at the Mook Badhir Vikas Trust – school for the hearing impaired.

The cost for mapping and telemetry ( computerized programming of the cochlear implant ) is also sponsored by the trust  along with free speech therapy for all the cochlear implantees .

The trust also runs a toy bank on the name of Mrs. Chandrika Shah . The aim is to provide educational material and other resources to these children so that they can do many activites at home inorder to develop better listening and speaking skills.

The trust has 80 (G) certification and also has FCRA  status
